BRADFORD-on-Avon’s Joe Andrews has helped Wales Under-17s reach the UEFA European U17 Elite Championships next March.
The former St Augustine’s Catholic College student featured for his country in games against hosts Croatia, Sweden, and Albania last weekend.
Wales beat Croatia 2-0 in the opening game before drawing a thriller against Sweden 3-3 a few days later. The Dragons went on to grind out a 0-0 draw with Albania to top a tough qualifying group and secure qualification.
The tournament was held across two stadiums in Porec and Novigrad – two towns in the north of the country. The Veli Joze Stadium in Porec was where Wales beat number-one ranked Croatia, and the Laco Stadium in Novigrad was the location for both of Wales’ draws.
Andrews’ latest achievement comes at the end of a busy Autumn for the 16-year-old.
The Bradford-on-Avon talent recently signed a scholarship contract with Premier League side Southampton and has played a handful of matches for the Saints in the U18 Premier League.
He also featured twice for his country at U17 level against France at their Clairefontaine Football Centre to the south-west of Paris.
