PEWSEY Vale picked up their first Counties Two Dorset & Wilts North victory of the season at the weekend following a 36-29 scoreline away to Royal Wootton Bassett III.
Following a sobering 79-0 defeat against Chippenham II the week before, Vale responded with a dramatic comeback win against Bassett.
The visitors dotted down first through centre, Josh Terrar before Bassett replied inside the opening 15 minutes. Pewsey made it 12-7 though when hooker Kieron James latched onto the back of a driving mail and tumbled over the line.
However, the away side's lead would disappear before half-time as Bassett crossed twice - and converted one - to generate a 19-12 scoreline at the break.
The early moments of the second half saw Pewsey score first before second-row, Darren Draper was sin-binned for a high tackle on his opposite number. Bassett made their advantage count by scoring twice, and it appeared as though the game had escaped Pewsey, only for a sensational comeback to unfold for the winless side.
Sam Flippance reduced the deficit to seven points with five minutes remaining, and Terrar's converted try drew the teams level in the dying seconds. With time in the red, Pewsey's Tom Flippance broke away from a scrum inside his own half before handing off to brother Sam alongside him for the game-winning score.
