Chippenham Town rode their luck as they ground out a hard-fought league win at Rugby on Tuesday night.
Kevin Halliday's fifth goal of the season handed the Bluebirds victory but goalkeeper James Bittner and the overworked Chippenham defence were put under immense pressure.
Scott Lye had a shot saved early on but David Stone had the ball in the net for the hosts 60 seconds later, only for the effort to be ruled offside.
The game was a scrappy affair with the ball rarely on the ground but the visitors took the lead after 21 minutes.
Tom Etheridge swung in a free-kick from the right and Halliday glanced home a header from eight yards.
Eight minutes later Ross Adams should have doubled the lead but blazed wide in front of goal.
And then Delroy Gordon forced Bittner into a diving save at the other end.
After the break the keeper was again called into action, palming over Scott Musgrove's cross.
The Bluebirds were struggling but Luke Gullick forced Martyn Margarson into a low save.
Bittner then kept the Bluebirds in it, saving at the feet of Akin Aladetoun.
Craig Herbert wasted a glorious opportunity, heading straight at Bittner when unmarked four yards out.
And with four minutes to go Stephan Morley's rising drive flew over as Chippenham hung on.
Chippenham Town: Bittner, Adams, Halliday, Letitiri, Price, Gullick, Lye (Carr 60), Badman (c ), Reid (Pratt 77), Allison, Etheridge.
