Rugby: After a patient start, Minety changed up a gear and destroyed visitors Supermarine with pace and precision. Having leaked an early penalty goal, the home team went on to score eight tries without conceding a further point.
Minety gave away a penalty in the first five minutes, enabling Supermarine to kick a goal and establish an early lead.
After that, the home pack took control, using catch-and-drive moves from lineouts to rumble over for a brace of tries, the first claimed by hooker Andy Moran and the second by number 8 Mark Holdsworth.
Supermarine eventually organised themselves to stifle this style of play and attempted to move the ball to their threequarters. There was no way through, however. Instead, Minety skipper Martin Coe latched onto a loose pass and raced in for a try by the posts.
Ryan Dowlings successful conversion made it 17-3 and when his captain was subsequently tackled 10 metres from the line, he was on hand again to chase down the ball and score in the corner.
The visitors started the second half brightly, kicking upfield for territory. Minety fullback Reuben Saunders fielded the ball cleanly, however, and fed it to scrumhalf Max Sparrow, who stepped his man and launched a counter attack. Winger Robin Greenway finished the move by skittering 40 metres up the touchline for a try.
Jack Ward added the conversion and then, bursting with confidence, Minety ran in three quick tries. Coe was the beneficiary of a beautifully timed pass and scored in the corner. Sparrow ran in an astonishing individual try from half way, and then Ward, having kicked a conversion, crashed over for a try from 15 metres out following a successful Minety lineout.
His goal kick brought Minetys tally to 48 points and though Supermarine rallied and spent a period in their hosts 22, they found no way through.
League leaders Minety travel to Melksham this Saturday to take on second placed Cooper Avon Tyres.
