Semington progress to AM Print & Copy Knockout Cup quarter-finals with victory over Sporting Box

Semington took the lead early on when Danny Rimmer scored from the penalty spot, Mike Stevens notched the hosts’ second before Rimmer added a third shortly afterwards.

Jon McChesney made it four when Dean Shaw’s shot hit him before cannoning in off the bar. Lee Grelish scored Box’s consolation goal.

In the WG Parr Trophy, Pack Horse look to be on course for a semi-final spot after they beat Biddestone 6-2 in the quarter final first leg.

Biddestone weren’t helped in the opening minutes when they were reduced to 10-men because of injury. However, the visitors took the lead through Henry Garroway’s long-range strike before Tom Armstrong made it 2-0.

Horse’s extra man was made to count, though. Mark Nolan scored a hat-trick before Max Wyatt, Josh Legg and Will Summers completed the rout.

Only one Chippenham Sunday League Premier Division clash took place as struggling Bath Road hosted fellow relegation battlers Faded.

Both teams fought out a 1-1 draw, though Faded started the game with 10 men.

Understandably, this hurt Faded. And they were quickly a goal down after Josh Mannings struck.

Matt Hall then struck Faded’s equaliser amid Nick Dibden’s man of the match performance that earned Faded a point.

In Division One, New Inn Wacker lost top spot after they lost to promotion hopefuls Lion and Fiddle.

Replacing Wacker at the top is North Star Club, who beat basement club FC Libby 3-2.

In that game, Carl Ledbury cancelled out Mark Bridger’s opener for FC Libby. Dean Fry’s excellent free kick then put Star 2-1 up before Aaron Clegg made it 3-1.

Sam Robinson scored a second for Libby to make for an interesting end to the game, but Star held on to claim the points.

In the league’s other game, New Inn Wacker made the short trip across Melksham for their meeting with third placed Lion & Fiddle.

The clash proved to be a one-sided affair, as Fiddlers registered a 6-1 win – their sixth win on the spin.

Conner McKay and Steve Knight shared the goals for the victors as they each netted a hat-trick. Jamie Gibbons replied for New Inn.

Without question, the league’s biggest comeback of the weekend went to Chippenham Icons – who overturned a 4-0 half time deficit to claim a point in their clash with Bremhill View.

Due to injuries and a red card for Jamie Crump, View ended the game with only eight men – and Icons needed no second invitation to punish their opponents.

Tom Stratton scored twice in the first half for View while Tim Sigee and Tom Boakes added the others.

Icons’ Danny Baker also missed a penalty in the opening half, had he converted the score would’ve read 1-1.

The game’s drama had only just started, though. Rich Hudson scored from the penalty spot to ignite Icons’ revival. Hudson scored a further two before Bremhill’s Crump was sent off.

An inspired change by Icons’ management that saw Jack Brain come on then secured Chippenham’s equaliser.

In other results, FC Trowbridge and Wednesday Warriors played out a nine-goal thriller that saw the former win 5-4.

Warriors, who have been much improved from last season, scored through Callum Hotine who netted twice, Darren Martin and Ryan Cutland.

However, it wasn’t enough as Alex Shaw’s quartet and Aaron Cockerill’s strike sealed the win for Trowbridge.

Meanwhile Lavis FC’s 5-3 success over London Road Inn moved Aaron Latchem’s side into second place.

Louis Harris saw his opener for London Road cancelled out by Zack Manna.

A stunning free kick for Steve Browning regained the lead for the hosts before Nick Taylor drew Lavis level for a second time.

Taylor put Lavis ahead early in the second half only for Harris to make it 3-3 with his second of the morning. Ashley Poms made it 4-3 to Lavis before Jack Booth sealed the victory.

Struggling Misfits suffered a 9-0 loss at runaway leaders Royal Oak while Royal Oak FC returned to winning ways by thumping Steeple Ashton 11-2.
