Football: Adam Giles believes he is the man to add firepower to Devizes Town as the club finally ended their search for a striker.

The 29-year-old has signed from Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Hungerford Town to bring guile to the Nursteed Road frontline.

The club have been scouting for a new forward since September, after Joe O'Chuko was ruled out for the season with a broken ankle and damaged ligaments.

Now, Giles, who made his debut in the 3-2 home win over Street on Saturday, is ready to deliver.

"The season has already started but I have got 35 goals in the Hellenic before and I know I can get at least 20 this time," said the target man.

"I've never played in this league before and have heard it is more physical but I enjoyed Saturday and I want to come here and prove I can score goals."

The former Swindon Supermarine hotshot has also arrived a frustrated man after becoming a bit part player at Bulpit Lane - another reason why he is committed to establishing himself at Devizes.

He said: "I was only playing 60 minutes at Hungerford and then back on the bench. They had three or four decent strikers and I wanted to be the main man.

"Thommo said I will be his main man and has brought me here to take the chances so we can put teams to bed."

Assistant boss Steve Hale, who managed Giles at Wantage, believes he will be a success "He has already scored five goals this season and that is coming from the bench a lot," he said.

"He has scored goals wherever he has gone and we know he can do the same for us."
