I READ a quote from Arsene Wenger this week talking about how his boys didn't play with the handbrake on against Liverpool on Sunday.

Looking back at my players in the 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Horsham on Saturday I have to say they played with the handbrake on for 65 minutes.

Once we took it off (even though I didn't tell them to put on) and started to believe, they were exceptional.

They have got to have that belief every game and it came back on Tuesday in the 3-2 Errea Cup win at Bridgwater Town. I moved the side about a bit and brought in a lot of lads who have been on the bench and those who played have done excellently.

It is credit to the strength of the squad. These lads are exceptional and I told them at half time it is all about getting a level of consistency.

In the first half it was a confidence thing, picking them up from Saturday.

I told them at half-time it is all about getting a level of consistency and they needed to do what they didn't do at the weekend.

They are young lads and don't want to make mistakes and want to impress so sometimes the easy option is to knock the ball long.

On Saturday they though lets just kick it long and get rid of it', but once we started passing we looked the better side.

Hopefully we can keep that level of performance going into the FA Trophy game with Heybridge Swifts on Saturday.

We know what it is all about and what a great occasion it can be if you do well in the early rounds.

We have got a chance if we get a good run together and another big crowd.

I would like to thank all the people who turned up against Horsham and I hope they would come again on Saturday and can spur us on.

After the weekend we are finally back to league duty on Tuesday when we travel to Rugby. We've lost quite a bit of ground on the sides around uis in the leage after our cup exploits.

But we have games in hand, though it is important to win them so we can keep in touch.

We've got a few league games coming up, including one against Cirencester Town later in November.

We've extended Luke Hopper's loan spell there for another month because he didn't play many games in October.

They, like us, had a lot of cup games and I didn't want him to be cup or vase tied.

He should get four of five league games in November and then will come back to us sharp and ready to challenge for a place.
