WITH the majority of sides from the Shoestrings Chargrill-sponsored Chippenham & District Sunday League scheduled to be in Wiltshire Sunday Cup action, the only three league fixtures that survived the wet wet weekend weather were in Division Two, where leaders Royal Oak stretched their winning run to eight matches thanks to an 8-1 triumph over London Road Inn.
Oak were 2-1 up at the interval through goals from Matt Russell and Chris O’Donovan, with Patch Whitlock replying for Road. The floodgates opened after the break, with the leaders bagging six unanswered goals as Rob Mitchell hit three, Sam Hall struck twice and one from Josh Duckett made up the eight.
Chippenham Icons got the better of fellow promotion hopefuls Lavis 3-1 to leapfrog them in the standings.
James Weston, Alan Farnish and Adam O’Keeffe all scored for Icons before Reuben Spong grabbed a consolation for Lavis.
A 9-1 success for Pack Horse at home to Steeple Ashton moved them into the top half of the table.
Max Wyatt led the way for Pack Horse with a five-goal salvo and Josh Legg scored the other four. Aiden Lane replied for Ashton.
