An awesome performance by Mitsubishi sponsored Cirencester Ladies 2nd X1 on Saturday puts them back at the top of their League.
To achieve this they needed a 5-0 win which was a tall order but on the day Ciren went from strength to strength and beat Wootton Bassett 3rds 8-0.
From the outset the home team, Ciren, looked goal hungry but it took a good quarter of an hour before a short corner led to a Manda Bloomer goal. In the ensuing period Ciren were lucky not to lose the lead when Wootton broke at speed more than once.
Keeper Jo Cross kept her head and positioned herself well enough to force errors from the attackers.
Ciren took back the initiative with time to spare and by half time were 3-0 up, courtesy of Jess Heaven and Sarah Harvey.
The second half saw domination by the home side. Unselfish, passing play was the order of the day. Jess got a 2nd goal, Caroline Mc Kemey secured a hat trick and Charmaine Davies got her name on the score sheet.
Sarah Ryan and Rowena Marriott in midfield worked tirelessly to support and set up chances for their rampaging attack. Centre Back Anna Robinson began to look particularly confident and unlikely to let Wootton do any serious damage.
Ciren found it difficult to select just one "man of the match" and decided that Caroline and Jess should share the honours.
