WILTSHIRE rider David Doel recorded a second-place finish when he travelled to Haras du Pin in France to represent Great Britain in the Nations Cup four-star competition.

Reybridge Eventing's Doel was in action on two over the weekend, riding Eisfee and Gallileo – the latter in its first four-star competition.

After scoring a 33.1 on the Gillian Jonas-owned Gallileo in the dressage, the combination then completed the cross-country within the time allowance to place third after two phases.

The concluding show jumping was a nail-biting affair but Doel recorded a clear round to move up to second in the final standings.
