Pewsey Vale were beaten by clinical Headington on Saturday after missing a string of chances.
Dave Turner's side saw Craig Wall's first half header ruled out for offside before Scott Ward and Wall both missed decent opportunities.
Wall saw another effort blocked by keeper Daniel Bianchini but the visitors took the lead against the run of play after 34 minutes.
Keeper Stuart Thompson's clearance fell to Mark Johnson who lobbed the ball straight back over the stranded stopper from 35 yards.
Despite their domination Pewsey conceded a second with eight minutes left when Nick Bayliss broke the offside trap and scored.
Turner: "Sometimes it goes against you and I said to the players afterwards we could have played for three hours and not scored."
