Corsham Town 4 Bishop Sutton 3.

Relieved Corsham Town boss Mel Gingell has praised his side's character after they ended a run of five games without a win.

A late winner from Liam Fulham saw the Southbank outfit claim a win over bottom of the table Bishop Sutton ahead of Saturday's trip to struggling Odd Down.

Gingell is now confident they have turned a corner after coming from behind three times to win.

"We've had a few hiccups but we've got them out of our system now," he said.

"They showed great character because we were 3-2 down with 12 minutes to go and a lot of sides would have buckled."

Corsham now sit eighth in the Toolstation League Premier Division with 17 points - three away from Gingell's pre-Christmas target.

"When I took over I thought if we got 20 points before Christmas we could push on and get at least 40 for the season," he said.

"We are still a couple of months away so are ahead of the target and the lads have done really well.

"But there is still a lot of hard work to be done because there are plenty of games to go."

Another three points didn't look likely on Saturday when the visitors took the lead after ten minutes but Simon Gray equalised immediately.

Bishop Sutton, without a win all season, retook the lead before half time but Gray's individual effort hauled Corsham level again after the break.

The strugglers looked set to claim all three points when they went 3-2 infront with 12 minutes to go, but James Lye won and converted a penalty to make it 3-3.

Fulham then pounced on a mix up to win the game but Gingell, who is still waiting to hear if he will face charges after being sent from the dugout against Devizes last month, doesn't believe Bishop Sutton will struggle for long.

"They were a stronger side than I thought and they will not finish bottom," he added.

The former Wiltshire U18 boss is now looking ahead to their league clash at Odd Down before hosting Wellington in the second round of the Les Phillips Cup.

They will be without defender Craig Gingell, midfielder Dan Harvey and striker Tim Jefferies following their red cards in the 3-2 FA Vase defeat at Cowes three weeks ago.
