Division One
With Division One leaders Potterne in cup action, Trowbridge based Ship FC seized their opportunity to take over at the summit as they blew British Lion away to claim an 8-1 triumph.
The Lion have not only lost their roar but they lacked a lot of the bite and fighting spirit that saw them beat the Ship on two occasions last term on their way to winning the title.
The Lion were more like pussy cats that the fearsome creatures that they once were as Lee Hayward put his Ship side ahead on nine seconds. Dave Percival should have added a second soon after but was guilty of missing a sitter. Hayward saved his fellow strikers blushed as he notched number two which was followed by one from Dave Percival whose shot went in off the bar. Danny Amoroso was guilty of another glaring miss for the Ship before Hayward completed a first half hat trick.
Dave Percival atoned form his first half howler, by scoring a second half double which saw him completed his first hat trick in the league this season, another from Hayward took his tally for the game to four prior to gaol keeper Craig Brown scoring number eight from the penalty spot as the ship collected win number six of the season. Andrew Webster was the Lion's lone marksman on the day.
