Chippenham's second team started in an confident mood after a good win the previous week.
Playing a largely unchanged side from last week, apart from Courtney replacing Gubbs and John Haines starting as substitute, Chippenham felt fairly sure that they could take the three points from Swindon despite playing away from home.
A bright start soon dulled as Swindon showed some good passing moves in the first ten minutes of the game and took control of the play. With all of their dominance in this period, Chippenham did well to keep the Swindon opportunitites to a minimum and reach a point where their goalkeeper, Johnny, was largely untroubled in goal.
Chippenham did eventually settle down and then started their own passing game with some flowing moves through Adam, Simon and Haines rotating on the wings.
Shortly after the start of the second half, Chippenham got a well-deserved lead through a goal from Guy Barratt. Somehow, Barratt managed to roll the ball from the top of the D towards the goal and convince the Swindon goalkeeper that it was going to miss - but unfortunately for him, the ball rolled into the net.
Much of the rest of the game, Chippenham dominated with a series of chances to further their lead. Events though, conspired against them as the Swindon goalkeeper made a series of good saves, the defence clearing off the line and the post being struck.
Swindon did have some breaks of their own though less frequently than that of the visitors and it was during one of these breaks that Swindon won a short corner that led to the qualiser.
Although Chippenham continued to work hard and try to find the goal that would snatch victory, it was not their day.
Next week, the seconds are at home to Bath Buccs H.
