A Division Derry Hill Lightning hosted Melksham Town at Springfields School with three players missing.
However the rest of the team made up for their missing team mates with a non-stop action-packed display. Emma Gorman hit the post after 15 minutes, but Melksham took the lead against the run of play shortly before half-time with a fluke goal direct from a corner-kick.
In the second half Derry Hill carried on where they left off and hit the post again from Jade Nicholas and the Melksham keeper made a couple of fine saves.
The nimbler Derry Hill players tried everything but could not find a way through against a physically bigger Melksham team who held on to their narrow lead until the final whistle.
The final score was 1-0 to Melksham but an excellent entertaining game of football.
