A special presentation evening was held at Marlborough Rugby Club on Monday to reward clubs in Wiltshire in achieving the Wiltshire and Swindon Activity and Sports Partnership's accreditation.

The clubs achieved accreditation thanks to a training and support programme established by WASP in partnership with Kennet and North Wiltshire District Councils.

They took the clubs through three months of workshops, providing a clear and structured approach to improving and developing clubs through three major strands; club structures, management structures and coaching .

Certificates were awarded to the following clubs: Level 3: Devizes Cricket Club, Devizes Hockey Club, Devizes Rugby Club, Marlborough Hockey Club, Marlborough Rugby Club, Wootton Bassett Hockey Club, Pewsey Vale Rugby Club, Tidworth Swimming Club.

Level 2: Marlborough Athletics Club, Malmesbury Crcket Club, Wootton Bassett Rugby Club Level 1: Goatacre Cricket Club Devizes Cricket Club achieved Level 3 accreditation and achieved the England Cricket Board Club mark accreditation which marks them out as a focus club in Wiltshire and enables them to apply for ECB grants to develop the club.

Devizes Cricket Club Captain Mark Banham said: "The ECB club mark is a major stepforward in taking Devizes into the forefront of cricket and the Kennet WASP accreditation enabled us to draw together the evidence needed to satisfy the ECB.

We are very grateful for the support we got from the WIltshire and Swindon Activity and Sports Partnership.'' Kennet District Council Leisure Development Officer Amanda Cox said: "It was very important to offer an evening of celebration for all the clubs to share the huge task they had achieved in gaining their level of club accreditation.

This will go a long way to encouraging other sport clubs to work towards their club accreditation on the next schemes we will be running.''
