LOCAL clubs North Wilts and Clarrie Dunbar will both be represented in Nottingham in the national championships age group competitions this weekend.
North Wilts will contest three events, ladies’ O60 singles and pairs plus men’s O50 Triples, while Clarrie ladies compete in the latter stages of the Mason Trophy O60 double rinks.
First up for North Wilts are the Moore family trio of brothers Steve, Chris and Andy in the men’s O50 triples on April 8.
They face in the Bob Warters, Cliff Watson and Keith Rippin from Stamford & District IBC (Lincs) in the last 16.
Alex Jacobs then features in the other two competitions – O60 pairs and singles.
Together with Sue Cooke, they play Dot Kennelly and her partner from the York and District IBC in the last 16 of the O60 pairs on April 9.
Jacobs, a former double women’s outdoor senior singles champion, then turns her attention to trying to complete a unique outdoor and indoor senior singles double.
She is drawn against Eastbourne’s Pat Bain in the last 16 of the O60s singles on April 12 (4pm).
Clarrie’s senior ladies team have become the first from the Standerwick-based club to reach the semi-finals in the Mason Trophy O60s double rinks.
They bid to beat holders Lincoln in the last four on April 11.
On the way to the last four, they have accounted for Mid Glos A (conceded), Bristol 50-25 and Thornbury 40-26.
A 35-31 local derby success followed over North Wilts in round four, while in round five Dunbar beat Handy Cross (High Wycombe) 43-35.
And in the quarter-finals they won on both rinks home and away to beat Torquay United 46-28 to book their place in the last four in Nottingham.
