NEW Inn Wacker’s opponents in this season’s Westernsport Trophies-sponsored WG Parr Trophy final in the Chippenham & District League will be Bath Road after they claimed a narrow 1-0 extra-time triumph over Kingfisher.
With neither team able to find the net in 90 minutes, Aaron Gardiner conjured up the winner for Bath Road in the first half of extra time.
Premier Division
WITH one hand already on the title, leaders Pheasant took another step towards winning their first-ever top-flight crown after a 5-0 success over FC North Wiltshire saw them open up a 10-point gap at the top.
Nick Manifold opened the scoring with a superb half-volley from 18 yards before Paul Gittins headed in from a corner to make it 2-0. Number three came when Ryan Tyrell curled home from 20 yards, Shane Blackmore’s glancing header took it to 4-0 before Gittins added his second to complete another good win for the champions elect.
AFC Melksham’s 7-1 victory over Westbury Rangers gave them the perfect build-up to next week’s Knockout Cup semi-final against Worton & Cheverell, although they will go into that game without Derek Wheeler after he was sent off.
Rangers’ Matt Mead also saw red after James Dark’s double had put Melksham 2-0 up. Jack Woolsgrove, Sean Fordham, Marcus Humm and another two from Dark sealed the victory, while Stewart Lisowski replied for Rangers.
A first goal for Sean McPhillips may have given Bell By The Green the lead at home to Box Rovers, but it was just a consolation as Box hit back to win 5-1.
Ben Wickens restored parity, Jon Bazley made it 2-1, while Zac Hillier, Emilio Mudrack and Liam Shipman shared the other goals
Semington moved up to third place, courtesy of a 4-0 victory over FC Bradford.
Ed McCormack and Danny Rimmer were on target in the first half, while Chris Dore and a first goal for the club for Lee Stipe wrapped up the points in the second period.
Division One
IN ALMOST record time, Bromham have secured a second successive title following a 3-2 win away at second-placed Westbury Railway.
Ryan Bole put Bromham ahead, but the villagers could have gone in at half-time on level terms had John Williams not seen his penalty for Westbury saved by Sam Willis.
Luke Child and Caleb Englefield made it 3-0 before Jamie Hancock gave the Railwaymen a glimmer of hope, which increased when Matt Greatly saved Jamie Hall’s penalty for Bromham.
Josh Jones then added a second for Westbury to set up a tense finale, but Bromham held their nerve to claim victory and the title to go with it.
After suffering two defeats at the hands of New Inn Wacker already this season, it was third time lucky for Calne United as they chalked up a 4-0 win to climb off the foot of the table.
Jake Goodwin scored a hat-trick and George Dolman got the other goal.
Faded got themselves back in the battle for second place with a 5-1 home success against the The Foresters Arms.
Faded made a bright start as Zack Manna scored a first-half treble. Pete Gainey pulled one back for Foresters early in the second half, but Faded responded through Manna’s fourth of the morning before Ashley Poms put the game to bed.
A 2-1 win for Fox & Hounds (Warminster) away at FC Libby has put them in with a realistic chance of a top-two finish.
Tom Foley scored from the penalty spot to give Libby the lead, but Justin Preece levelled matters prior to the interval and Craig Sheppard hit the winner for Fox & Hounds after the break.
Division Two
A 5-3 victory for Lion & Fiddle at home to Old Road keeps them top of the table, although a dominant 18-0 success for title rivals Worton & Cheverell keeps them firmly in the hunt too.
Conner McKay and Leon Greenland gave Fiddle a 2-0 half-time lead before Jordan Pinder and Steve Knight (2) completed the win. Seamus Mooney (2) and Sam Van Weenen replied for Old Road.
Worton boosted their hopes of beating Fiddle to the title after thumping Gloucester Conservative.
Alex Surman top scored with four goals, Matt Lever bagged a hat-trick, Adam Bewley, Ali Bradley, Jack Hopper and Ben Tylee and Ashley Huntley scored two each, with Craig Campbell’s single making up the 18.
Biddestone signed off their league campaign with a 2-1 victory away at Sporting Box.
A brilliant Aiden Hawkins free-kick gave Biddestone a half-time lead, Ryan Pagett doubled the advantage in the second half before Mike Patemore scored a late consolation for Box.
