MELKSHAM rivals The Foresters Arms and New Inn Wacker battled it out for a place in the final of the Westernsport Trophies-sponsored WG Parr Trophy in the Chippenham & District Sunday League, and it was the latter who progressed after coming from behind to claim a 3-1 victory.

After a goalless first half, Foresters substitute James Eatough gave his team the lead. However, Sean Horobin struck twice for New Inn before Ricardo Harding sealed a meeting with either Kingfisher or Bath Road in April’s final.

Bath Road had already booked their place in the semis with a 5-2 victory away at Old Road, however, confusion over the five substitutes rule by the original match referee led to their quarter-final having to be replayed, where Bath Road were successful for a second time, winning a penalty shoot-out following a 2-2 draw.

Adam O’Keeffe’s second-half double put Old Road 2-1 up after Quinnan Tarawali had given Bath Road the lead at the break. Jack Sanderson restored parity to take the game to extra-time where no further goals were scored.

Matt Holdaway, Tom Sigee and Luke Minnis were then successful from the spot for Bath Road, whose keeper Luke Jones saved penalties from Matt Poole and Adam O’Keeffe before Nick Mills skied his effort to end Old Road’s cup adventure.

PREMIER DIVISION

DEVIZES-BASED Bell By The Green may remain bottom of the table, but a 3-1 victory over Westbury Rangers had them celebrating a first league success since the opening day of the season.

Will Musgrove gave Bell an early lead, which was double by Mostafa Abdelrahman. Antony Butler made it 3-0 before Rangers scored a consolation through Stewart Lisowski.

AFC Melksham and FC North Wiltshire fought out a 1-1 draw, with both goals coming in the first half.

Jack Woolgrove headed Melksham ahead, only for Ashley Fletcher to restore parity.

North Star Club put in a spirited performance at Box Rovers, but still suffered a 3-1 loss.

Zac Hillier and penalties from Liam Shipman and Adam Mitchell wrapped up the win for Rovers. Tom King replied for Star.

Will Stevens and Billy Gleed secured FC Lacock a 2-0 victory at home to Semington to keep them in the battle to finish as champions.

DIVISION ONE

IT IS now a matter of when and not if Bromham will be crowned campions after a 6-0 victory at FC Libby pushed them 14 points clear of Westbury Railway in second place.

The villagers led after 20 seconds through Jamie Hall and Ed Summers made it 2-0. Luke Child, Jack Young and further goals for Hall and Summers made up the half-dozen.

A second-half double for Justin Preece earned Fox & Hounds a 2-0 victory over Calne United.

Sutton Benger got the better of local rivals Kingfisher as a 3-2 win earned them a massive three points in their battle to beat the drop.

Jason Cole and James Hernandez put Benger 2-0 in front, only for the Fishermen to get back level at the interval courtesy of Andy Rose and Richie Bolter. However, a second from Cole wrapped up Benger’s win.

A third win on the bounce for Westbury Railway helped them consolidate second place as they beat Brunel 6-2.

Ben Cooper scored for Westbury in the opening minute before Jamie Hancock scored twice for a 3-0 interval lead. Both Cooper and Hancock scored again and Josh James added a sixth before Josh Legg and Harry Fenwick replied for Brunel.

DIVISION TWO

WORTON & Cheverell would have been expecting a tough test of their title credentials at home to Audley, but it was a walk in the park for the hosts as they claimed an 11-2 success.

Gareth Jones got Audley back on level terms after Ash Huntley had put Worton ahead. A Jack Hopper double and a goal each for Ali Bradley and Cameron Lee put the hosts 5-1 up at the break. Hooper with a couple more, another each from Lee and Huntley and singles for Declan Blanford and Jack Bramwell completed the rout. Barry Kelly added a second for Audley.

Ryan Armstrong’s hat-trick set Biddestone on their way to a 6-2 success over White Hart.

Patch Whitlock and Louis Harris scored first-half goals for Hart, but alongside Armstrong’s heroics, Jack Greenhaigh’s brace and a Jamie Smith own goal made up Biddestone’s half-dozen.
