THE draw for the quarter-finals of this season’s Westernsport Trophies-sponsored WG Parr Trophy in the Chippenham & District Sunday League threw up three all-Division One encounters, with the match between hosts Fox & Hounds and New Inn Wacker proving to be the most exciting as a late penalty earned the visitors a 4-3 victory.

Craig Sheppard scored a hat-trick for Hounds, who actually led twice on the day, but Steve Badger and Sean Horobin struck two each for New Inn, with the latter scoring the winner from the penalty spot to secure his side’s place in the semi-finals.

Bath Road avoided a potential banana skin away at Old Road as they booked their place in the last four with a 5-2 win.

Matt Poole scored both goals for Old Road and missed a penalty that would have put them 3-1 ahead. That allowed Tom Sigee’s double to draw Bath Road level before the break and he capped a stunning individual display in the second half as a further three further goals completed a five-timer.

With their pitch at Stanley Park unplayable, Sutton Benger and Kingfisher were able to save their meeting as they switched the game to Bromham, with the Fishermen adapting better to claim a 2-0 win.

Paul Mannings gave Kingfisher a first-half lead and Will Stone sealed the victory in the second half.

With the Foresters Arms and Faded set to meet each other in the league next weekend, their Trophy clash was the perfect appetiser and it was the former who prevailed 4-2.

James Ponsford and Leigh Rowles-Hitchcock put Foresters 2-0 up, and although Dan Jones halved the deficit, further goals from Rowles-Hitchcock and Tom Robinson extended the advantage. Zack Manna scored another late reply for Faded

PREMIER DIVISION

A 1-0 victory for Westbury Rangers at FC North Wiltshire saw them move out of the drop zone as Stewart Lisowski scored the winner just before the hour.

FC Lacock defeated FC Bradford 4-0 to keep the pressure on leaders Pheasant.

Billy Gleed’s double, Josh Hard and a 30-yard strike from Alex Lewis made up Lacock’s quartet.

AFC Melksham moved up to sixth after a 5-3 triumph at North Star Club.

James Dark and Jordan Kirk scored for Melksham in a first half that saw Aaron Clegg and Dean Fry reply for Star. Kirk put Melksham 3-2 up and then completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot. Derek Wheeler also netted a penalty to make it 5-2 before Tom King score a third for Star.

Semington moved into third thanks to a 1-0 victory over Box Rovers, with Sam Malone scoring the only goal in the first half.

DIVISION ONE

BASEMENT side Calne United were unable to end their winless run at FC Libby as the hosts claimed a 2-1 success.

Libby led 1-0 at the break through Adam Potter, but that was cancelled out by Jake Goodwin early in the second half. Kyle Palmer then came off the bench to snatch the winner for Libby.

Westbury Railway ended a three-match winless run when they came from behind to triumph 5-1 at Brunel.

The hosts led through Mike Jenkins, but Mark Allard’s header got Westbury on level terms prior to half-time. Jamie Hancock then put Westbury ahead before Josh James made it 3-1 and Drew Adams’ double wrapped up the win.

DIVISION TWO

WORTON & Cheverell moved back into second place following a 6-1 success over Biddestone.

Cameron Lee saw his opener for Worton cancelled out by Keenan Burnell, but a second for Lee restored Worton’s lead before the break. A couple more for Lee took his and Worton’s tally for the morning to four and Jamie Wallen’s free-kick and Rob Mitchell made up the half-dozen.

Leaders Lion & Fiddle consolidated top spot with a thumping 19-0 victory at home to White Hart.

Conner McKay led the way with seven goals, Steve Knight, Tom Blackman, Kieran Ramsey, Nick Taylor and Joey Cunningham netted two each, with Bradley King-Taylor and Leon Greenland completing the rout.

Bradley Edwards scored twice for basement side Wednesday Warriors, but they were in vain following a 5-2 loss to Sporting Box.

Adam Greeves, Joe Lewis, Gino de Antonis, Joe Lewis and a Grady Dufosse own goal made up Sporting’s tally.
