CULLEN Wylie’s last-gasp goal helped Division Two outfit Worton & Cheverell claim the last remaining semi-final spot in this season’s AM Print & Copy-sponsored Knockout Cup in the Chippenham & District Sunday League after a 2-1 win over the Foresters Arms.

After a goalless first half, James Eatough’s free-kick put the Foresters ahead, but debutant Jesse Walters restored parity for Worton before Wylie scored at the death to book his side’s place in the last four.

PREMIER DIVISION

THE battle between heavyweights Pheasant and FC Lacock went the way of the former, whose 3-2 victory means they have opened up a four-point lead over their rivals in the title race.

A Patrick Kapelka own goal gave Pheasant the early lead, and although Billy Gleed dragged Lacock level, Paul Gittins put Pheasant 2-1 in front at half-time.

Max Wyatt’s free-kick made it 3-1, and although a second from Gleed set up a nervy finish, Pheasant held on.

Both Bath Road and opponents AFC Melksham should already have enough points to be assured of their top-flight status next season, so a 3-1 win for Melksham has given them some extra breathing space from the drop zone.

A stunning individual goal from James Dark saw Melksham reclaim the lead after Tom Stratton’s penalty spot for Road had cancelled out Adam Welch’s opener.

Road keeper Luke Jones saved a Dark penalty before he finally did make it 3-1, and Melksham keeper Adam Dhinsa kept out Stratton’s spot kick late on.

Semington and FC North Wiltshire shared a 5-5 draw as the latter stayed third in the table.

Goals from Sam Malone, Tony McElone and Dean Shaw gave Semington a 3-0 advantage, but Jon O’Donovan and Rich Tandy threw Wilts a couple of lifelines prior to half-time.

A second from McElone put Semington 4-2 up before Wilts turned the game around to go 5-4 in front after two more from Tandy and one from Matt Webb. Ollie Winchcombe then scored late on to seal a draw and spare Semington’s blushes.

DIVISION ONE

RUNAWAY leaders Bromham hosted second-placed Faded, with a 3-1 win for the table-toppers meaning only a major implosion will deny them a second successive title.

Bromham led 2-0 at the break courtesy of Ryan Bole’s double. Nassem Abourachid made things interesting when he volleyed home for Faded, but any hopes of a comeback were ended when Bole completed his hat-trick.

Brunel made it a hat-trick of recent victories with a 4-3 triumph over New Inn Wacker to move out of the drop zone for the first time this season.

Goals from Luke Whittard and Ashley Palmer put New Inn 2-0 ahead before a stunning 20-yarder and a long-range free-kick from Ali Ellis got Brunel on level terms.

Sean Horobin regained the lead for New Inn, and although Josh Madle squared things up again, Josh Legg won it for Brunel from the penalty spot.

A week after they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, Calne United and Kingfisher faced off in the reverse fixture, and again it was a closely-fought affair as the latter prevailed 3-2.

The Fishermen led through an own goal, but Matt Fenn levelled matters for Calne before half-time.

Will Stone then regained Kingfisher’s lead, and although debutant Ashley Monaghan got another equaliser for Calne, Stone’s second won the game for the Fishermen.

FC Libby returned to winning ways with a 3-1 home success over Sutton Benger.

Troy Hawkes and a Dan Moore double gave Libby a 3-0 interval lead, and although Andy Lewis pulled a goal back for Benger in the second half, it proved to be just a consolation.

Fox & Hounds and Westbury Railway shared eight goals and the points in a 4-4 thriller.

John Williams’ free-kick, Jamie Hancock and a Frankie McEntegart header put Westbury 3-0 up before Darrell Hitchcock, Wayne Marchmont and Chris Collinson turned the game on its head to get Hounds back level.

Hancock then looked to have won it for Westbury, only for Chickiah Selassie to deny them with a late equaliser.

DIVISION TWO

AFTER battling to a 5-4 victory away at Biddestone last weekend, Lion & Fiddle played hosts to the same opponents, and on this occasion, there was no doubt about the result as the latter cruised to a 6-0 success.

James Clifford, Alex De Silva, Connor McKay and Joey Cunningham scored a goal each, while Nick Taylor’s double made up the half-dozen.

Dan Hayward’s own goal handed Audley a 1-0 win over Gloucester Conservative.

Old Road left it late before sealing a 3-2 victory over Sporting Box.

Sam Van Weenan and Nick Mills twice put Old Road ahead, but Seamus Mooney’s own goal and Dan Allencar restored parity each time for Box, only for Matt Poole to snatch a late winner.
