LAST season’s runners-up, Box Rovers, remain on course to reach the AM Print & Copy-sponsored Knockout Cup final in the Chippenham & District Sunday League following a 4-1 quarter-final triumph away at Westbury Rangers.

Box broke the deadlock through Leigh Rogers, but Stuart Lisowski restored parity for Westbury prior to half-time. Rogers regained the lead for Box on the hour and after Rangers lost Matt Mead to a second yellow card, further strikes from Emilio Mudrak and Dan King sealed Box’s win.

AFC Melksham also reached the semi-finals after a 4-3 win over Bromham.

Jack Woolsgrove, James Dark and Marcus Humm put Melksham 3-0 ahead before a Ryan Bole penalty and Caleb Englefield cut the advantage to one goal. Dark struck again to give Melksham a two-goal cushion and although Bole netted a second for Bromham, the villagers ran out of time to claim an equaliser.

A 4-0 victory for Premier Division leaders Pheasant over Bath Road kept alive their hopes of a double this season.

Paul Gittins’ goal separated the sides at the break. He added his second after the interval before a Max Wyatt double made up the winners’ quartet.

In the delayed third round tie between the Foresters Arms and Fox & Hounds (Warminster), it is the former who will play Worton & Cheverell in the quarter-finals after a 6-1 win.

Tom Robinson, Gary Higdon, Sean Meer, Jim Sandiford and Rob Sandiford shared first-half goals for Foresters. Higdon added a second after the break before Myles Woodward replied for Hounds.

PREMIER DIVISION

WITH leaders Pheasant in Knockout Cup action, FC Lacock’s 2-0 triumph over FC Bradford means the villagers have moved to within one point of the summit.

Josh Hard and Josh Bright got the goals for Lacock.

FC North Wiltshire ended an eight-match winless run with a 3-1 success away at Bell By The Green.

Josh Duckett, Aaron Leask and James Squire put North Wilts in control before Mike Booth’s late effort denied them a clean sheet.

North Star Club ground out a 3-2 win away at Semington.

Matt Smart gave North Star the lead and although Bobby Mitchell restored parity before second-half goals for Semington, strikes from Joe Child and Mike McKeller put Star 3-1 in front. Ed McCormack grabbed a second for Semington after the break, but the visitors held on.

DIVISION ONE

THE battle to stay in the division is starting to hot up after both FC Brunel and Sutton Benger boosted their chances of beating the drop with a victory apiece.

Brunel triumphed 2-0 on the road at FC Libby, courtesy of Josh Madle’s first-half 30-yard rocket and Ryan Jenkins’ effort after the break.

Sutton Benger were 2-1 winners over New Inn Wacker.

Brentley Roberts first-half effort for Wacker was cancelled out after the break by Tom Merriman before Matt Blackmore struck Benger’s winner.

Second-placed Faded kept their promotion challenge on track with a 3-1 defeat of Westbury Railway.

Faded took command of the game from the start through Zack Manna's header before Jack Treby doubled the lead with a free-kick. Westbury’s Chris Burgess lashed home from long range to reduce the arrears before Will Mather wrapped up the win.

Chris Simpkins’ lengthy efforts to get the Kingfisher pitch ready for the visit of Calne United were only rewarded with a 1-1 draw.

Matt Fenn put Calne ahead before Josh Griffiths fashioned a first-half equaliser for the Fishermen.

DIVISION TWO

LION & Fiddle remain top of the table after overturning a 3-1 half-time deficit at Biddestone to win 5-4.

Nick Eggleton, Ryan Pagett and George Garraway’s first-half goals for Biddestone had threatened an upset despite Jordan Pinder replying for Lion.

Conner McKay, Tom Blackman, a second from Pinder and the eventual winner from Kieran Ramsey meant Jamie Stevens’ second-half effort for Biddestone was just a consolation.

Title favourites Worton & Cheverell swept aside Gloucester Conservative 6-0.

Cameron Lee and a Dan Hayward own goal gave Worton a 2-0 interval lead. Ben Tylee, Cullen Wylie, Ash Huntley and Matt Laver made up the half-dozen after the break.

A 10-man Wednesday Warriors side can take some heart from their 6-1 defeat at the hands of Old Road, for who Matt Poole netted a hat-trick.

Adam O’Keefe, Seamus Mooney and Joey Bradshaw shared the other Road goals as Ethan Green replied for Warriors with a stunning 35-yard effort.

Sporting Box claimed a 7-2 success over White Hart.

Matt Pattemore (2), Adam Greeves, James Weymouth, Morgan Summerfield, Darren Ross and Dan Alencar made up the winners’ tally, while Jason Sheppard and Steve Browning replied.
