URCHFONT’S Polly Maton has been named the Wiltshire Athletic Association’s Senior Female Athlete of the Year.
After representing Great Britain at the Paralympics in Rio last year, Maton, who has been selected for the IPC Para World Championships in London next month, took the award ahead of Hannah Claydon and Zoe Mattocks.
Calne Running Club’s Simon Nott was highly commended in the Senior Male category which was won by GB U20 international high jumper Tom Gale.
Corsham’s ultra-distance runner Damian Hall was named Male Veteran Athlete of the year with Royal Wootton Bassett Hounds’ Simon Rawlin highly commended as was Denise Nott in the female veteran category.
Mark Rogers was highly commended in the Unsung Hero award, while the Club initiative of the year award went to Corsham Running Club for their ‘One Mile Club’ while Calne Running Club’s ‘Sofa to 5K programme’ was also short-listed, who also saw their Heddington 5K Race Series taking the Race of the year award.
