SWINDON Town look set to be without goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux and defender Lloyd Jones for the visit of Bury in League One on Saturday, with the pair unable to serve their suspensions in tomorrow's Checkatrade Trophy tie against Chelsea's development side.
On-loan defender Jones and stopper Vigouroux both saw red in the second half of Saturday's 2-0 derby defeat at Oxford United but a rules revamp for the new-look Trophy format mean disciplinary matters are exclusive to the competition.
Both Jones and Vigouroux are set to serve one-match bans following Saturday's dismissals, with FA disciplinary rules stating that: "Red cards in first team competitive matches result in immediate suspension from forthcoming first team competitive matches.''
However, under the new Trophy rules, agreed by the Football Association, any EFL or Premier League player who is serving a ban or is set to serve a suspension for a yellow or red card offence will be eligible to play in the competition, which would nudge forward the Town duo's suspensions to Saturday's clash against the Shakers.
Jones was sent off by referee Stuart Attwell for a second bookable offence after kicking out at Oxford's Andrew Sercombe just after the hour mark on Saturday, having earlier been booked for dissent.
Vigouroux followed him in injury time for lashing out against Alex McDonald after a lunge from the U's substitute.
