CHIPPENHAM secured promotion to the GoCrea8 League’s Conference North next season with an 8-1 home win over Bristol UWE A.
Mark Knight opened the scoring after 10 minutes from a penalty corner and added a second from a penalty stroke.
Within 10 minutes Knight had got his hat-trick, having beaten the last defender and hitting a firm strike low to the keeper’s right.
Nick Middleton added two more including another penalty stroke before Knight closed out the first half with his fourth.
Chippenham continued to dominate the second half and created several more chances before Chris Instone tapped home from close range.
Middleton got his hat-trick with a reverse-stick strike through a crowded circle and although UWE A grabbed a late consolation, Chippenham moved to within a point of the Central One title ahead of facing bottom side Somerset Gryphons on Saturday.
In East Central One, Chippenham A won their inter-club game with Chippenham B 7-3.
Penalty corner goals from Simon Walker and Tim McKendrick saw the sides locked at 1-1. Further goals from Darren Bean, Guy Barrett and Henry Price gave Chippenham A a 4-1 lead at half time and a defensive error gifted Walker a second before Archie Wright pulled one back.
Price hit a second before Ron Ousby got another one back, Guy Barrett adding the finishing touch for the A team.
Corsham remain winless in the division after a 15-0 loss to North Wilts.
In East Central Two, Chippenham C won the second inter-club game of the weekend against Chippenham D, Simon Gubbin scoring twice either side of Jonty Richards strike.
Corsham Ladies were edged out 1-0 by Team Bath Buccs 4 in the West Clubs League Wessex Division One, the second team losing out 2-0 to Chippenham 4 in Wessex Division Two.
The third team played out a goalless draw with West Wilts 3 in Wessex Division Three.
