CHIPPENHAM stayed top of the GoCrea8 League’s Central One division at the midpoint in the season with a tough win at Bath Buccs C.
Mark Knight opened the scoring for Chippenham midway through the first half and in the second period Chippenham extended their lead through Luke Morris before Bath Buccs grabbed a consolation goal.
Marlborough kept up the chase as they won 6-0 at Bristol UWE A.
The visitors opened the scoring through Rhys Davies before Ed Watson slotted the ball home after good work from Will Radnedge.
John Bromley scored the third after Will Hughes crossed and Hughes added a well deserved goal before adding a second after Matt Way had netted the fifth.
In their promotion battle in East Central One, Chippenham A won 4-0 against North Wilts and moved up to second place in the table, courtesy of goals from James Hamilton, Henry Price, Elliot Jones and Guy Barrett.
Chippenham B lost to another promotion-chasing side in Marlborough A, containing the home side to a couple of goals in each half, as they went down 4-0.
In East Central 2, Chippenham C got back to winning ways at home against Shepton Mallet B. Mike Spurrier hit the opener from a deflected penalty corner before Shepton Mallet levelled midway through the first half.
Rich Borman hit the Chippenham winner with 10 minutes to go.
At North Wilts A, Chippenham D went down 5-0, stand-in goalkeeper Justin Porter also saving a penalty stroke.
