CHIPPENHAM men’s first team’s winning streak in Central 1 came to an end when they went down 5-1 at North Somerset.
From the first whistle, play went from end to end with few chances for either side. North Somerset had the first real opening from a short corner but the strike went wide.
Chippenham pressed on the break and Mark Knight fired them into the lead. However, North Somerset came back strongly, equalising quickly before getting another to take a 2-1 lead into half-time.
The visitors pressed for an equaliser at the start of the second half but could not find a way past the home keeper as the hosts went on to score three more.
Chippenham A moved up to second in East Central 2 with a comfortable 4-1 home victory over Devizes A.
Chippenham B had their game with a depleted Corsham abandoned due injury despite being 8-0 up at half-time.
Wootton Bassett B were too strong for Chippenham C as they were beaten 5-2.
Marlborough ran out 4-1 winners over newly promoted Wootton Bassett thanks to goals from Matt Way, Ed Watson, Keir Aymes-Headley and Rhys Davies.
Devizes secured a fine 5-0 success over Hereford in Conference North with the help of goals from Max Bartholomew, Tom Alsop, Roger Edwards and Ollie Smith.
Corsham Ladies first team stunned Wessex Division 1 leaders Chippenham 2nd in a 4-3 thriller.
Corsham 2nd were crushed 8-0 when they took on their Wootton Bassett counterparts in Wessex Division 2.
It was a similar story for thirds as they went down 7-1 to Bassett 3rd.
