MARLBOROUGH got their season off to a flying start with a 10-0 victory over Somerset Gryphons.
The hosts piled on the pressure from the start and player-coach Matt Way scored the first two goals from close range.
Young forward Rhys Davies scored after another slick move and midfielder Anil Sud added a quick two goals as Marlborough raced into a 5-0 lead, which became six before the interval as Davies bagged his second.
Sud claimed his hat-trick in the second half before veteran wing back John Bromley scored a deserved goal following a short-corner routine.
Gareth Playfair and Way combined for a slick one-two move which led to Playfair netting before Will Radnedge rounded off the rout Chippenham’s Mark Knight put in a five-star performance as his side crushed newly-promoted Wootton Bassett 9-1.
Having fallen behind, Bassett levelled soon after, only for Chippenham to go in at the break 5-1 up with Luke Morris getting on the scoresheet.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with the hosts enjoying most of the possession and territorial advantage.
The midfield of Olly Whittaker and Nick Middleton benefitted from some solid distribution from Billy Whittaker while Tom Bowrey found space down the left flank.
At the final whistle Knight had reached five goals, Morris had scored twice and Chris Instone and Tim Elliott having one each.
Meanwhile, the seconds drew 1-1 at Wootton Bassett A, while the thirds grabbed a last-gasp equaliser against Devizes A to secure a 3-3 draw having been 3-1 down.
Steven Jackson hit a hat-trick in the fourths 4-4 draw with Marlborough B and Chris Jackson was on target in the fifths 1-1 draw against West Wilts D.
Devizes suffered a 3-2 defeat to West Wilts in Conference North.
Corsham Ladies romped to a 7-0 win at Bath Buccaneers with Carol Simpson and Mel Bessel bagged a brace apiece, while Katherine Robinson, Lorraine Robinson and Vickie Hathaway were also on target.
The seconds slipped to a 7-2 defeat. Joan Carpenter grabbed one of the goals while Harriet Beazer was named player-of-the-match The third team claimed a 1-1 draw at Wells City Acorns with Carolian Van Dongen on target.
