CHIPPENHAM Town have snapped up full-back Matt Jones – the son of assistant manager Tom Jones.
The 19-year-old, who was released by Swindon Town at the end of last season, had been training with Bath City during pre-season and was also offered a trial at Inverness Caledonian Thistle this summer but has opted to sign for Mark Collier’s Bluebirds.
Jones, who made his first-team debut for Swindon on the final day of the 2013/2014 season and spent time as a substitute last term, was on loan at Hardenhuish Park for a month last season.
He also had loan spells with Wantage Town, Swindon Supermarine and Farnborough and is Chippenham’s fourth new signing of the summer alongside Scott Bevan, Matt Smith and Andy Sandell.
