Jake Roberts was the star of the show as he almost single-handedly settled Potterne’s final day Premier Two derby with county rivals Goatacre.
The Wiltshire bowler claimed a stunning eight wickets for just 48 runs to help Neil Clark’s men earn a six-wicket victory over their counterparts at Goatacre Lane, with Potterne finishing the season nine points off the promotion places.
Brad Dawson’s hosts opted to bat first after winning the toss but they were soon made to pay by Roberts, who showed no remorse as he tore through the Goatacre line-up.
Ed Wilkins (24) and Dan Wiseman (14) were the only batsmen to even begin to have any joy off Roberts whilst Kevin Iles hit a late 21 as the home side were dismissed for just 103 midway through the 25th over.
Sahan Wijerathne led the charge for Potterne with an unbeaten 53 as Clark’ side reached 105-4 in 26 overs, with Goatacre’s Owen Alsop claiming a pair of wickets.
Dawson’s men end the campaign seventh in the league.
