WILTSHIRE cyclists Lauren Booth and Pete Kibble are both toasting national success.

Twelve-year-old Booth, who has cerebral palsy, rode at the British Cycling Youth National Track Championships at the Manchester Velodrome.

Competing against able-bodied U16 girls, she rode in the sprint and 500m time trial, breaking the paracycling national records for both the flying 200m, in which she clocked 14.699, and time trial (41.255 seconds).

Booth has also been selected to ride in the Sainsbury’s UK School Games in September, as has Kibble, who won the 2014 Welsh Road race Championships for his age group.

Pete, 16, is part of Project 2018, an initiative of the Welsh Cycling Performance programme to produce medal-winning riders or support for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Last year’s runner-up, Kibble took command of the race on a 1.3km purpose-built race circuit in Rhyl, North Wales, and crossed the line unchallenged.

He went on to finish sixth in the elite adult race, ahead of the forthcoming Welsh 10-mile Time Trial Championships.
