Swindon-based police officers have been praised for good results in two incidents which have seen three people bailed to court for a robbery and a quantity of stolen aluminium cabling recovered.
Shortly after 12.30am on Tuesday morning a man was walking in Newbridge Square, Swindon when he was attacked by three people. They hit him in the face and stole his wallet before leaving in an unknown direction.
Descriptions of the three offenders were circulated and they were spotted nearby on the Brunel Centre CCTV cameras.
All three were arrested on suspicion of robbery and taken to Gablecross Police Station. As a result, three local males aged 18, 14 and 13-years-old have been bailed to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court.
In a separate incident, police were called at 10.20pm on Saturday 27 October following reports of a burglary at an electricity compound on Faraday Road, Swindon. Police attended immediately but on arrival found that the offenders had disappeared and that a quantity of aluminium had been stolen.
Later that evening an officer and his search dog named Jaeger attended and during a thorough search of the area found large drums of cabling hidden nearby.
Superintendent Kevin Maidment said: "I am extremely pleased to see that the hard work of our police officers and staff, in conjunction with our partners, is yielding some fine results.
"This is an illustration of the excellent police work that is going on throughout the town every single day. Such examples should send a clear message to people committing crime that we will investigate thoroughly all criminal activity reported to us and deal robustly with anyone found to be involved."
Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 0845 408 7000 or alternatively phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
