POLICE are renewing appeals for witnesses to the serious assault and sexual attack which happened yesterday in Swindon.
They are still looking for the attacker or group of attackers who assaulted a 56-year old man in Worsely Drive, Freshbrook at 11.15pm last night.
Acting Detective Inspector Corrin Dennison said: "This was a vicious and unprovoked attack which has left the man in a stable but serious condition in hospital.
"We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, whether they saw the attack or anyone heavily bloodstained or acting in an agitated manner in the area."
Police are also urging anyone with information on the sexual assault of a 21-year old woman who was walking home by the Great Western Way underpass to come forward.
The woman was pulled from behind and forced to the ground in the Hardcourt Road recreation area before being assaulted at around 2am on Saturday.
They have, however, charged a 33-year old man with GBH with intent and ABH in connection with the attack of a 38-year old man in Lennox Drive yesterday.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Swindon magistrates tomorrow morning.
