Children at Rowde Primary School joined up with schools all over Europe on Friday to break the record for the largest number of people taking part in a dance routine at the same time.
At 1pm on Friday, 234 people, 217 of them children, participated in the five-minute rehearsed routine in the school playground, trying to break the record of 264,188 people in 1,472 locations dancing the same choreography at the same time.
It was organised by The Big Dance, an organisation which aims to encourage more people to dance as a means of having fun and getting more exercise.
It will be some days before the result is known as the Guinness Book of Records has to verify the evidence.
Teacher Christine Fox said: “It was a lot of fun and it is quite exciting trying to break a world record. We had to download the set piece of music and learn the moves.
“We blasted the music out into the playground and were very lucky the weather stayed dry for it.”
