A fireworks display in Seend Cleeve went off with a bang and raised money for Help for Heroes.
Donations raised on the night raised £240 and another £65 was raised by villagers who played golf the following weekend.
The cost of the display, held at the Brewery Inn on November 5, was paid for through sponsorship by nine local companies.
Chris Downham, organiser of the event and a customer at the Brewery Inn, said: “We are very pleased with the amount raised for Help for Heroes. Some people were remarkably generous. They were donating notes which I think was purely because of the charity we chose. We chose Help for Heroes because it does a fantastic job.”
More than 200 people attended the fireworks display and Mr Downham said they were lucky with the weather as it stopped raining in time. A barbecue held afterwards also proved popular Mr Downham said businesses who had provided sponsorship had expressed a wish to hold the display again next year for charity.
