A music night is being planned at the Cross Keys in Great Bedwyn in aid of Help for Heroes by customer Valerie Dalgleish.
Mrs Dalgleish has managed to book singer Frankie Martin who is currently on a non-stop 366-day tour of Britain playing at 366 different venues and each time in aid of Help for Heroes which was set up in Wiltshire.
She said: “Like so many people I have relatives in the forces who have been in places like Afghanistan and everyone understands and appreciates what Help for Heroes is doing for our injured soldiers.
Crooner Frankie Martin is well into his 366-day non-stop pub tour and sings favourites from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin and more.
He will be at the Cross Keys on December 3, singing from 9pm, and tickets are available from the pub for £6.
Mrs Dalgleish said prizes for the big raffle so far included a Status Quo CD signed by the band and called appropriately In The Army Now; a £100 BMW toy scooter donated by Dick Lovett garage at Hungerford; a £125 voucher for family photos at Imagine Studios; a £20 veg box from Cobbs at Hungerford farm shop and £20 flower voucher from Wendy Lewis, the florist at Cobbs.
Bear Grylls, who lives near Ramsbury, has also pledged signed merchandise.
* Music is also coming to Compton Bassett Village Hall on Saturday when Nick Treharne and The One Night Band will perform music from the 60s to the 90s.
Mr Treharne said: “Help for Heroes does some great work so we’re keen to try to raise as much as we can. “At the same time, we’d like to show our appreciation to the villagers by trying to generate some funds for the cricket team. The band will not be receiving a performance fee or expenses, so all profits will go to the two charities and the night will also provide some revenue for the village hall.”
Doors open at 7.30pm. For tickets call (01249) 760273.
