Former RAF officer Margot Muller of Aldbourne, who defied a crippling disease to take part in the Adidas women’s 5km challenge, has handed over £1,755 to Help for Heroes.
Ms Muller, 62, of Oxford Street, picked up a bug while on a trek in Peru two years ago, losing four stone and all her fitness.
But she was determined to walk the five kilometre route through Hyde Park in London in September.
She said: “My greatest delight was that I managed to walk the whole distance without a stick and did it in one hour, five minutes.
“It felt much slower so I couldn’t believe the time I did it in. I burst into tears of joy as I crossed the finish line.”
Miss Muller moved to Aldbourne three years ago.
After months of examination and two spells in hospital, her chronic stomach condition was diagnosed as Crohn’s disease.
Miss Muller has since successfully undergone treatment.
