Children at St Nicholas School in Chippenham are looking forward to eating vegetables grown in their new garden.
The garden at the special school was created with the help of volunteers from the Shaw Trust, which helps disabled people get into work.
The aim of the project is that children will grow and cook their own food through the school’s Let’s Get Cooking Club.
The Shaw Trust’s Nicole Sedgley said the volunteers had enjoyed their work which had helped bring them together as a team.
“The real reward though was watching the children getting stuck in and planting tomatoes, runner beans and French beans,” she said.
“In addition of course, they are learning about how vegetables grow, healthier living and will enjoy the ultimate reward of eating tasty food which has been grown by their own hands.”
The garden, which has raised beds, was built as part of National Employee Volunteer Day.
