The Mayor of Wootton Bassett, Mary Champion, will get runners on their marks for the town’s second fun run next month.
The event is in aid of her chosen charity, Wootton Bassett Age Concern.
Fitness trainer Michelle Leighton will lead runners along the 5km all-terrain route, starting at Ballards Ash Sports Ground past Jubilee Lake, Wood Street and the High Street.
She said: “This race is ideal for all ages and abilities and at the same time raises funds for a very worthwhile charity.
“It is the second running of the mayor’s charity fun run and we are hoping to build on its success.
“There was a great atmosphere last year, everyone enjoyed themselves and felt so good having had a go.”
The mayor is looking forward to supporting the local Age Concern.
She said: “The charity provides vital services including their respite care and assisted shopping schemes.
“I have worked with the elderly for many years and I know what a difference the services of Age Concern can make to their lives.”
Last year’s run attracted a large entry and it is hoped even more people will pull on their running shoes this time.
Medals will be given to all those who finish the course.
The run begins at 10am on Sunday August 29 from Ballards Ash Sports Ground.
Entry forms can be collected from Wootton Bassett Town Council at 117 High Street.
