Popular Box roadsweeper Geoff Cleverley has retired from his street cleaning duties after ten years.

Mr Cleverley, 80, of Berry Cottages, Box Hill, has given up his part-time job, which has helped the village score highly in previous years’ Best Kept Village competitions.

Parish council chairman Fred Sheppard said: “Poor health and advancing years make it not possible for him to continue.

“We wish Geoff a long and happy final retirement and thank him for his long, loyal and conscientious service.”
