A poster being used in a campaign to save the RAF base at Lyneham has been banned from Wootton Bassett for being insensitive.
Traders who have got together to try to persuade the Army to move to the RAF base have used the poster for their campaign.
The First World War recruiting poster features General Kitchener in which the words “Your country needs you have been altered to “This town needs you.”
But the town council and chamber of commerce say it is insensitive in light of the repatriation ceremonies.
Chamber president Paul Dunn said the poster should have the Union Flag on it instead of Lord Kitchener.
“The last thing we want to do is to offend any of the families who come to our town to pay respects to their family members,” he said.
