Grandparents Julian and Susie Marshall have returned to Malmesbury after travelling 1,200 miles around the British Isles and Ireland.
The couple, accompanied by their 13-year-old grandson Isaac, travelled in their Morris Minor which has been part of the family for over 40 years.
The couple, along with four others who were also travelling in Morris Minors, have raised £1,300 so far for the British Heart Foundation.
The charity is a cause close to their hearts. Mrs Marshall’s father died of cardiac disease at the age of 71 in 1979 and Mr Marshall’s brother-in-law died of heart problems in 2009.
The group, which set off on July 24, drove through Cardiff, Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh and London, returning to Malmesbury in time to make a grand entrance at Sunday’s kite festival.
Mr Marshall, 70, said: “We had a lovely send-off from Malmesbury, and a very nice welcome back, too.”
He added that the car, which used to belong to an aunt, had held up very well.
The group either camped or stayed with members of the Morris Minors Owners’ Club.
In Newport, a campsite owner gave the drivers free food and beer and in Durham around 24 members of the Morris Minor club took the adventurers out for a meal.
Mrs Marshall said: “Putting up and taking down tents got tiring.
“But we went out for a super meal on Thursday night and we all felt much better the next day.”
