Road safety campaigners in North Wiltshire are upset by the decision to axe the cameras.
Calne town councillor Mercy Baggs said: “This is completely the wrong decision. We desperately need a camera up at Quemerford, especially when the children are coming out of school. This is a 30mph road but you always get idiots speeding.
“It is a safety issue more than anything and I hope the villagers in Hilmarton campaign for the camera at Snow Hill to stay because that is where it is needed. Without the cameras drivers will just speed through the village because there will be no danger of them getting caught.”
