Four fearless Pewsey villagers are planning to leap out of an aircraft at 12,000 feet over Salisbury Plain as the next money-raising venture for the charity that helps injured servicemen.

Sky diving with them will be Martin Preston an osteopath with a practice in Pewsey, and also the fitness coach for the Army’s red Devils parachute team.

Pewsey has got right behind fund raising for Help for heroes the charity which was set up in Wiltshire.

There has already been a successful disco and a music festival, both at the Coopers Arms, where the parachute jump is being planned.

Taking part in the jump over Netheravon airfield on Saturday will be Martin Preston, Dave Cammish, Craig Mariner, Ellie Day and Tracey Pullen, who missed the photocall.

Ms Day said: “The main reasons behind us deciding to do the jump and raise money for H4H is to support the troops.

“Two of us are ex-forces, we all have friends and family in the military, and being from Pewsey, the military community is very much part of village life.”

The jump will be followed by a celebratory barbecue at the The Coopers Arms field.

Sponsorship for the jump can be made on the web site: www.bmycharity.com/CoopersClowns or donations can be left at the pub.

Retired employees of the old North Wiltshire District Council have donated £250 to Help for Heroes.

The Retired Employees Association, which has 34 members, raises money for charity each year, and decided to support the cause this year.
