I was once told by James Gray, the Conservative MP for North Wiltshire, that MPs were duty bound to respond to their constituents’ letters.
I am now somewhat confused, because I sent Mr Gray letters on May 30 and June 25 and he has not bothered to reply to either.
Since he won’t respond to my letters, I’ll repeat my request to him here in The Gazette and Herald.
“Do you support my Freedom of Information request to the Cabinet Office for the release of the minutes of the Cabinet ministers’ meetings 1997/98 concerning the Devolution of Scotland and Wales and the English Regions (DSWR). If you don’t support my request, I would like to know why?”
Readers of these pages should know that Jack Straw only vetoed two requests, one concerning the Iraqi war and the other Devolution.
I am very very curious as to what was contained in the Devolution minutes that was so dangerous as to put it on a par with a war.
