Each year the Lions Clubs of Great Britain organise competitions designed to allow young people to demonstrate their involvement in their communities and to show their concern for matters outside their normal experience.
This year the Lions Club of Devizes is inviting young people to participate in two of these competitions: 1. The Young Ambassador project. This is designed to recognise contributions to local communities.
Youngsters should be aged between 15 to 18 years and are asked to write an account of their activities. The competition is arranged on a Lions Club Zone, District and Multi-District level.
The district winner receives a £500 bursary to be used for their activity and the outright winner a further £1,000 for the same purpose.
2. The Peace Poster Contest. The purpose is to design a poster illustrating the youngster’s ideas on a particular theme. This year the theme is Vision for Peace. Again there are prizes for the winner.
I would encourage youth leaders, church organisations, schools, youth groups and young people in the Devizes area to contact me as soon as possible if they are interested and would like further details.
