It may be the middle of summer but Mary Champion, the Mayor of Wootton Bassett, is already sorting out her Christmas cards.
Coun Champion is inviting children in the town to design her cards, which can be a painting, drawing or collage of any design, contemporary or traditional.
Mrs Champion said: “I would be so proud to send Christmas cards designed by the young people of Wootton Bassett to the county’s mayors this year, as well as to other dignitaries.
“Some of these unique, special edition cards will also be presented to the winners of the competition, along with their prize, so that they can send their own cards to friends and family, too.”
The competition has two categories, under 11-year-olds and 11 and over.
Mrs Champion added: “So long as the card expresses the spirit of Christmas, those who enter are free to design it any way they like.
“I am really looking forward to seeing the entries when they come in.”
The closing date for the Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition is September 24.
Entries should be sent to Wootton Bassett Town Council at 117 High Street along with your name, address and telephone number.
