Schools in Corsham, Box and Colerne are celebrating after receiving an ‘outstanding’ commendation by Ofsted inspectors.
Corsham Primary School has achieved the highest level following its inspection. It represents a massive turnaround from when its Broadwood site was the former Box Highlands Primary School, which had been placed in special measures and eventually amalgamated into its current form.
Ofsted inspector Steffi Penny said: “It is an outstanding school. They have achieved their aims of being a centre of excellence and innovation in primary education.”
Fiona Allen, executive headteacher, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received such a positive report. It is a real testament to the work of the whole team over recent years. Corsham Primary is a very special place and it is lovely to think that the inspection team recognised our wonderful children and staff.”
Chair of governors Elspeth Griffiths said: “The governing body is particularly pleased to have received such a wonderful Ofsted report. Over recent years we have successfully expanded over two schools and it gives us huge pleasure to think that the children on both sites are receiving an outstanding education.”
Box CoE Primary School was also awarded outstanding status. Headteacher Jo French said: “The outcome of our inspection is a fantastic end to the year and reflects all the hard work of staff, children and everyone connected to the school.”
Sally Mitchell, chair of governors, said: “I would like to say an enormous thank you to absolutely everybody who has contributed to this accolade we have received – it belongs to everyone.”
Colerne Primary School has been rated ‘good’ and headteacher Rob Parsons was commended as showing ‘outstanding’ leadership. Inspector Chris Kessell said: “It is a good and rapidly improving school where pupils enjoy their education.”
