Last-minute preparations are being made for one of the biggest free events on Chippenham’s calendar – the Family Fun Day at John Coles Park.
The event, organised by the Round Table and sponsored by the Gazette and Herald, has been running for nearly 20 years, and this weekend it will play host to a number of local groups.
Playgroups, Brownies, Scouts and sports teams will join the fun on Sunday making the event bigger and better than ever.
Round Table chairman Andrew Taggart said: “The main aim of the fun day is to provide affordable entertainment for the families in Chippenham, but a further aim is for local charities and children’s organisations to raise their profile and to raise funds.”
Last year the fun day was almost cancelled because of a lack of commitment from sponsors.
But this time support from logistics company Wincanton, Whitehall Garden Centre and long-time backers the Wavin Group has ensured the festivities will go ahead.
During the day, children will be able to try out the bouncy castle for free when a Gazette and Herald is bought from the promotions team, and Gilbert the Gator, pictured, will also be on hand to give out goodie bags.
The fun day will take place between 1pm and 5pm on Sunday at John Coles Park.
