Staff in the Calne branch of Tesco Express have this week been waxing off their hair in order to raise money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
“We’ve already done lots of things to raise money, we’re going to put on a big show which will include a hypnotist,” said store manager Anthea Scarth.
“Mat Fropton and James Hawton, who both work in the store decided to raise money by cycling from London to Paris.”
Building and equiping the new NICU will cost around £6.1m and will be the first premises of its kind thanks to new buildng techniques.
The building has been designed specifically for premature babies requiring individual, intensive care.
To contribute, employees from Tesco stores in the area are trying to raise £50,000.
Tim Hobbs, head of fund raising for the campaign, said: “All the donors have risen to the challenge and the foundations went up earlier this month.”
